Mark

Mark
10 CHAPTER
Marco 10:1 And he left there and went to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan, and crowds gathered to him again; and again, as his custom was, he taught them.

Marco 10:2 And Pharisees came up and in order to test him asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"

Marco 10:3 He answered them, "What did Moses command you?"

Marco 10:4 They said, "Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to put her away."

Marco 10:5 But Jesus said to them, "For your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment.

Marco 10:6 But from the beginning of creation, 'God made them male and female.'

Marco 10:7 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife,

Marco 10:8 and the two shall become one flesh.' So they are no longer two but one flesh.

Marco 10:9 What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder.

Marco 10:10 And in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter.

Marco 10:11 And he said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another, commits adultery against her;

Marco 10:12 and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.

Marco 10:13 And they were bringing children to him, that he might touch them; and the disciples rebuked them.

Marco 10:14 But when Jesus saw it he was indignant, and said to them, "Let the children come to me, do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God.

Marco 10:15 Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.

Marco 10:16 And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands upon them.

Marco 10:17 And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him, and asked him, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

Marco 10:18 And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good?" No one is good but God alone.

Marco 10:19 You know the commandments: "Do not kill, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.'"

Marco 10:20 And he said to him, "Teacher, all these I have observed from my youth."

Marco 10:21 And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said to him, "You lack one thing; go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."

Marco 10:22 At that saying his countenance fell, and he went away sorrowful; for he had great possessions.

Marco 10:23 And Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it will be for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!"

Marco 10:24 And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!

Marco 10:25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Marco 10:26 And they were exceedingly astonished, and said to him, "Then who can be saved?"

Marco 10:27 Jesus looked at them and said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God."

Marco 10:28 Peter began to say to him, "Lo, we have left everything and followed you."

Marco 10:29 Jesus said, "Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel,

Marco 10:30 who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.

Marco 10:31 But many that are first will be last, and the last first."

Marco 10:32 And they were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them; and they were amazed, and those who followed were afraid. And taking the twelve again, he began to tell them what was to happen to him,

Marco 10:33 saying, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and deliver him to the Gentiles;

Marco 10:34 and they will mock him, and spit upon him, and scourge him, and kill him; and after three days he will rise."

Marco 10:35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came forward to him, and said to him, "Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you."

Marco 10:36 And he said to them, "What do you want me to do for you?"

Marco 10:37 And they said to him, "Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory."

Marco 10:38 But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?"

Marco 10:39 And they said to him, "We are able." And Jesus said to them, "The cup that I drink you will drink; and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized;

Marco 10:40 but to sit at my right hand or at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared."

Marco 10:41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be indignant at James and John.

Marco 10:42 And Jesus called them to him and said to them, "You know that those who are supposed to rule over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them.

Marco 10:43 But it shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant,

Marco 10:44 and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all.

Marco 10:45 For the Son of man also came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Marco 10:46 And they came to Jericho; and as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great multitude, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside.

Marco 10:47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"

Marco 10:48 And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent; but he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"

Marco 10:49 And Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." And they called the blind man, saying to him, "Take heart; rise, he is calling you."

Marco 10:50 And throwing off his mantle he sprang up and came to Jesus.

Marco 10:51 And Jesus said to him, "What do you want me to do for you?" And the blind man said to him, "Master, let me receive my sight."

Marco 10:52 And Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you well." And immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way.

13 CHAPTER
Marco 13:1 And as he came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, "Look, Teacher, what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!"

Marco 13:2 And Jesus said to him, "Do you see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon another, that will not be thrown down."

Marco 13:3 And as he sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,

Marco 13:4 "Tell us, when will this be, and what will be the sign when these things are all to be accomplished?"
Marco 13:5 And Jesus began to say to them, "Take heed that no one leads you astray.

Marco 13:6 Many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he!' and they will lead many astray.

Marco 13:7 And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; this must take place, but the end is not yet.

Marco 13:8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places, there will be famines; this is but the beginning of the birth-pangs.

Marco 13:9 "But take heed to yourselves; for they will deliver you up to councils; and you will be beaten in synagogues; and you will stand before governors and kings for my sake, to bear testimony before them.

Marco 13:10 And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.

Marco 13:11 And when they bring you to trial and deliver you up, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say; but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.

Marco 13:12 And brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death;

Marco 13:13 and you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.

Marco 13:14 "But when you see the desolating sacrilege set up where it ought not to be (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains;

Marco 13:15 let him who is on the housetop not go down, nor enter his house, to take anything away;

Marco 13:16 and let him who is in the field not turn back to take his mantle.

Marco 13:17 And alas for those who are with child and for those who give suck in those days!

Marco 13:18 Pray that it may not happen in winter.

Marco 13:19 For in those days there will be such tribulation as has not been from the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never will be.

Marco 13:20 And if the Lord had not shortened the days, no human being would be saved; but for the sake of the elect, whom he chose, he shortened the days.

Marco 13:21 And then if any one says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'Look, there he is!' do not believe it.

Marco 13:22 False Christs and false prophets will arise and show signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect.

Marco 13:23 But take heed; I have told you all things beforehand.

Marco 13:24 "But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light,

Marco 13:25 and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

Marco 13:26 And then they will see the Son of man coming in clouds with great power and glory.

Marco 13:27 And then he will send out the angels, and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.

Marco 13:28 "From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near.

Marco 13:29 So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that he is near, at the very gates.

Marco 13:30 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away before all these things take place.

Marco 13:31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

Marco 13:32 "But of that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Marco 13:33 Take heed, watch; for you do not know when the time will come.

Marco 13:34 It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to be on the watch.

Marco 13:35 Watch therefore--for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning--

Marco 13:36 lest he come suddenly and find you asleep.

Marco 13:37 And what I say to you I say to all: Watch."
